Expander
Applicability
This description applies to the Stereo, Surround, and Immersive versions of the Expander module.
Overview
Expander is a module for reducing low-level signal components (downward expansion). It can be used to reduce background noise, ambience, or unwanted low-level content before compression and loudness processing. A gating mode (full cut) is available.
Processing Principle
The module applies gain reduction when the signal falls below the configured threshold. The range parameter limits the maximum amount of reduction, and the processing profile controls the response behavior. In gate mode the level gets fully cut.
Parameters
|
Parameter |
Description |
|
Linking |
Controls how channel paramters are linked and the side chain audio is grouped for expansion. |
|
Enable |
Enables or disables the expander stage. |
|
Threshold |
Sets the level below which expansion becomes active. |
|
Range |
Limits the maximum gain reduction applied by the expander. In gate mode the level gets fully cut. |
|
Processing Profile |
Selects the expander processing profile. The profile represent faster or slower timing reaction. |
